MPs from “European Solidarity” visited the National Bank’s Committee on Banking Supervision and Regulation, demanding an end to political pressure on the International Investment Bank and opposition leader Petro Poroshenko.

As noted by Nina Yuzhanina, for the first time in history, under orders from the authorities, the NBU is harming the financial system of our state through unlawful actions.
“This is not only about destroying the International Investment Bank; it’s about destroying the reputation of our Central Bank. How hard it was for the previous government to rebuild, restore, and clean up the banking market, and now the current leadership is discrediting everything that was achieved. I deeply regret that they are so subordinated to the orders they receive from the President’s Office,” Yuzhanina stated.
“The issues currently under consideration involve a Ukrainian bank that is financially independent, stable, and fully compliant with reserve norms and requirements. And now you want to bring it to insolvency. This must not be done if you are truly the NBU and care for the banking sector. All actions are exactly the opposite — everything is being done to create problems for the bank and deprive it of the opportunity to solve them,” said Yuzhanina.
MP Rostyslav Pavlenko pointed out: “The National Bank has no right, neither under the Constitution nor under any law, to determine, solely based on the imposition of so-called sanctions, whether a person is of good standing and reputation or not. The NBU granted itself this power through its own instruction and is now trying to act outside the law and the Constitution.”
MP Mykhailo Bondar added that illegal sanctions against Poroshenko would lead to blocking large-scale aid to Ukraine’s Armed Forces at the front.
“In recent weeks, there have been so many calls from the boys, so many meetings with fellow soldiers, and everyone understands that officials, including from the National Bank and the President’s Office, are undermining assistance to the Armed Forces, the National Guard, and the Defense Forces. The number one question from the soldiers is: will Petro Oleksiyovych continue to help? How will he do it? I tell them, he is still helping, and lawyers are trying to overturn all these sanctions. We understand that the war continues and help is still needed at the front. That’s why we are here — to convey to the NBU leadership that the war continues and help is needed. Don’t act foolishly, don’t follow criminal orders from the President’s Office,” Bondar urged.
