Fico emphasized that a meeting with Zelensky currently makes no sense until Slovakia and its European partners establish a common position. “Until Slovakia has coordinated its position with the European Commission and Hungary… this meeting is meaningless,” he said.
According to the Prime Minister, European countries should “pressure Zelensky” for Ukraine to allow on-site inspections and restore the transit of Russian oil, which is important for the energy security of all Europe.
Fico also announced that he plans to travel to Paris for the nuclear forum on March 10, where he will try to arrange a meeting with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen to coordinate a position ahead of potential negotiations with the Ukrainian leader.
