📊 Europeans feel a high risk of war with Russia and doubt their own defense – survey

The results of a Le Grand Continent survey showed that more than half of Europeans consider the risk of open war with Russia to be high, and more than two-thirds are not confident in their country’s ability to defend itself.

The level of anxiety depends on proximity to Russia: Poland – 77%, France – 54%, Germany – 51%, Portugal – 39%, Italy – 34%.

Professor Jean-Yves Dormagen noted that such a result was previously unthinkable, and now Europeans are more broadly acknowledging the possibility of direct conflict on the continent.

Regarding defense capabilities: 69% of those surveyed believe their country cannot effectively protect itself from Russian aggression.

The survey included France, Italy, Spain, Germany, Poland, Portugal, Croatia, Belgium and the Netherlands.
