The European Commission stated that Russia’s recent massive attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure pose a real threat to nuclear safety.

European Commission spokesperson Anitta Hipper emphasized that Russian President Vladimir Putin “continues to terrorize Ukrainians,” deliberately targeting critical facilities, including substations that supply electricity to nuclear power plants.
According to her, these large-scale attacks have caused disruptions in electricity, water, and heat supplies and have endangered the stability and safety of Ukraine’s nuclear power plants.
The EU called on Russia to stop its attacks on civilian infrastructure and reaffirmed its continued support for Ukraine in restoring its energy sector.
