“President Donald Trump expects Europe to play the leading role. It’s their continent, their security, and they will have to step in,” Vance said on Fox News.
According to the US official, Trump does not plan to deploy US troops in Ukraine but may offer support from the air. European countries have already formed a “coalition of the willing” that will provide forces to defend Ukraine.
The White House emphasized that Washington will not continue issuing “blank checks” to fund Kyiv’s defense amid the multibillion-dollar US aid.
