According to the media, the White House has increased pressure on Kyiv and its allies to force them into an agreement with Moscow. This has caused concern in European capitals, where there are fears that Trump may concede to Russia’s demands.
Last week, after presenting the 28-point U.S. plan to President Zelensky, European allies called for further work on the proposal. One European official noted: “This is a scenario we are clearly preparing for,” referring to the potential cessation of support for Ukraine from Washington.
European diplomats are expecting new consultations next week between France, Germany, and the United Kingdom, as well as possible participation from the leaders of Poland, Finland, and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte. They are working on developing a counterproposal that could balance the positions of the parties and support Kyiv.
