According to the president, thousands of missiles for Patriot systems cannot stop tens of thousands of Iranian Shahed drones due to the significant difference in cost.
“One such drone is 40 times cheaper than a single Patriot missile. Therefore, in terms of production time and missile cost, it is impossible to compete with drones,” Zelensky emphasized.
He stressed that Ukraine already has a developed air defense system, but it lacks the ballistic capabilities that the United States possesses.
“By combining these forces, it is possible to cover the sky over any country facing a massive attack,” the president noted.
Zelensky pointed out that drone technologies are rapidly developing and practically have no range limitations.
“Today it flies 100 km, tomorrow it will be a thousand, and the day after tomorrow – 10,000,” he said.
The president also stated that Ukraine is ready for an equal partnership with the United States in the field of security.
“I would very much like the United States not to perceive Ukraine as a country that only asks. That is not the case,” Zelensky emphasized.
He highlighted that Ukraine offers technology exchange, security guarantees, and combat experience.
Separately, the president stated that Russia is changing its war tactics and increasing drone production.
“Today, the Russian attack on Ukraine involves 350-500 drones per day. Russia wants to reach 1,000 drones,” he reported.
According to Zelensky, an effective response could be interceptor drones.
“An interceptor drone costs $3-5 thousand. That means it takes about $10 thousand to counter one ‘Shahed,’ while a Patriot missile costs $4 million,” the president noted.
He emphasized that Ukraine already has unique experience in this field and is ready to share it with partners.
Zelensky also stressed that the threat of war is not limited to Ukraine alone.
“War is not as far away as it seems. We need to act as quickly as possible,” he said.
The president added that without uniting allies and developing modern security technologies, the world risks new conflicts.
In addition, Zelensky provided data on Russian army losses and mobilization.
“Russia constantly mobilizes 40-45 thousand people per month. To hold them back, we have to destroy approximately the same number,” he said.
At the same time, the president stated that Ukraine seeks a peaceful resolution to the war.
“Ukraine wants peace much more than Putin does,” Zelensky emphasized.
He also stressed the need for active cooperation with the United States to find solutions.
“Every day we need to look for options for a peace agreement,” the president concluded.
