This was reported by U.S. President’s Special Representative Steven Witkoff, commenting on a conversation with President Donald Trump during the “Ukrainian Breakfast” event in Davos on January 22.
According to Witkoff, during a dinner with Donald Trump they discussed the Ukrainian economy and the capital system. The U.S. President, in particular, spoke about the possibility of creating a duty-free trade zone between Ukraine and the United States.
Witkoff emphasized that exemption from tariffs when exporting goods to the U.S. would create a powerful competitive advantage and could lead to “enormous prosperity.”
“Everything will change. You will see industry move there. You won’t have to pay customs tariffs when you send goods to the United States,” said Trump’s special representative.
He also stressed that Ukrainians deserve such economic opportunities because of their courage and resilience in the struggle.
