During the meeting, leaders discussed strengthening Ukraine’s air defense, including the production of European air defense systems and missiles, as well as expanding the PURL program. Special attention was given to the possibility of ensuring Europe’s own anti-ballistic capabilities and protecting Ukraine’s energy infrastructure.
The sides also addressed continued diplomatic efforts to end the war.
“Very substantive — diplomacy. Due to the war in Iran, there is currently an obvious pause in negotiations. We discussed how to activate this process, contacts with America, and Europe’s role in it. We also talked about the situation on the front. It is very important that all partners noted that Ukraine’s positions are now significantly stronger,” Zelensky said.
The summit was attended by leaders of several European countries, including Emmanuel Macron, Keir Starmer, Giorgia Meloni, Donald Tusk, Mark Carney, as well as representatives of the EU and NATO.
