The UK Secretary of State for Energy, Michael Shanks, stated that the government does not plan to ease sanctions on Russian oil.

He emphasized that, despite the US decision to temporarily lift restrictions on oil and petroleum products loaded onto ships, the importance of sanctions for deterring Russian aggression remains.
“The UK government will not ease sanctions against Russia… We absolutely cannot allow Putin, sitting in the Kremlin, to interpret this as an opportunity to invest in his war machine,” Shanks said.
