Former U.S. National Security Advisor John Bolton stated that Donald Trump’s attempts to accelerate a peace agreement with Russia are “inevitably” doomed to fail. He described the summit with Vladimir Putin in Alaska as unprecedentedly chaotic and criticized Trump’s abandonment of sanctions and ceasefire demands (Fox News).

According to Bolton, negotiations are “on their last breath,” and Trump’s haste and turmoil push them further from real peace. He also noted contradictions within the administration: Trump advised Ukraine to strike Russian territory, while the Pentagon blocked such actions in Kyiv.
The former advisor added that U.S. allies, such as India, suffered from new 50% tariffs, while Russia and China remained unpunished. Bolton concluded that Trump’s actions over the past two-plus weeks “may have set us further away from peace and a fair resolution in Ukraine than ever before.”
