The opposition Slovak party OĽaNO (Hnutie Slovensko) has filed a complaint with the prosecutor’s office against Prime Minister Robert Fico. This was reported by Aktuality.

Essence of the accusations
The statement refers to a possible collusion between Fico and Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán to artificially create a migration crisis ahead of the 2023 elections.
The case also mentions Defense Minister Robert Kaliňák and Interior Minister Matúš Šutaj Eštok. The opposition suggests that the politicians may have coordinated their actions with a foreign state to gain political advantage.
Opposition’s position
Party representative and former Interior Minister Roman Mikulec stated that even during the crisis there were suspicions about its potentially artificial nature.
According to him, Fico активно used the migration issue in his election campaign, amplifying public fears.
He also noted that if collusion is proven, such actions could be classified as sabotage or even treason.
Context
The basis for the complaint was statements by Hungarian politician Péter Magyar, who suggested that before the elections in Slovakia, Budapest may have deliberately directed migrant flows toward the Slovak border.
Authorities’ response
The Slovak Ministry of the Interior rejected the accusations.
They stated that the opposition is using this issue to divert attention from its own mistakes during the migration crisis.
