On August 31, at the age of 91, Ukrainian animation production designer of Buryat origin Radna Sakhaltuyev passed away. This was reported by film critic Serhiy Trymbach.

Born in 1935 in Ulan-Ude, Sakhaltuyev worked in Kyiv at the “Kyivnaukfilm” studio from the 1960s. Together with director David Cherkaskyi, he created a number of iconic animated films that became classics of Ukrainian animation.
Among his most famous works are Adventures of Captain Vrungel (1976–1979, production designer together with Nina Huz), the two-part film Treasure Island (1986, combining animation and live-action scenes), Doctor Aybolit (1979), and How the Cossacks Played Hockey (1995).
In addition to animation, Sakhaltuyev was renowned as a talented book illustrator, making a significant contribution to the development of Ukrainian culture. The cause of death has not been specified.
