On Independence Day, Ukraine for the first time publicly demonstrated a new modification of the “Neptune” cruise missile with a strike range of up to 1,000 km. The video appeared on the official account of the state portal “Zbroia” along with other samples of Ukrainian weaponry, reports Defence Express.

The development of the “Long Neptune” became known back in November 2023, and in March 2025 the missile passed tests and is already being used against the enemy. Although the video has no caption, experts recognized it by its characteristic X-shaped wings and enlarged dimensions.
The new modification was created to strike ground targets and is a development of the R-360 anti-ship missile. While the basic “Neptune” had a length of 4.8 m and a diameter of 38 cm, the “Long Neptune” exceeds 6 m in length and about 50 cm in diameter. This made it possible to fit more fuel, providing increased range. At the same time, the tail section remained unchanged, while the wings and fins were enlarged for stabilization.
The weight of the warhead of the new missile has not been officially disclosed, while the standard “Neptune” carried 150 kg.
It is noted that the launch footage in the video is archival recordings of the Neptune coastal defense system tests in 2018–2020.
The state portal “Zbroia,” where the video was published, was created as a unified platform for state services and the branding of Ukrainian weaponry. After the liquidation of the Ministry of Strategic Industries on July 21, 2025, the portal was transferred under the authority of the Ministry of Defense.
