In Ukraine, the process for returning military personnel after unauthorized absence from their unit has been optimized. Documents are now submitted directly from the military unit to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, without intermediate links such as the army corps or operational command.

The purpose of the changes is to speed up assignments, make the transfer process more transparent, and eliminate potential manipulations by individual officials. The General Staff is also reducing paperwork related to processing orders and directives concerning the movement of military personnel.
The new mechanism offers a more democratic approach and does not change the conditions for returning to service after unauthorized absence. Electronic recommendation letters should not be used to transfer personnel from combat brigades to units with more comfortable service conditions.
