Among the network members were a 20-year-old man from Kharkiv, a 16-year-old schoolgirl, and a 17-year-old young man from Rivne region. Russia used the minors “in the dark,” under the guise of performing courier tasks. The individuals were recruited by enemy intelligence services via Telegram while looking for easy money.
For the promised reward, they arranged hiding places for components for improvised explosive devices (IEDs). For example, the 16-year-old girl hid electric detonators received from her handler under the guise of “ordinary radio antennas.” The Kharkiv man dismantled an anti-personnel mine and concealed explosives in juice boxes, while the 17-year-old young man distributed them across various caches.
The SBU counterintelligence exposed all three individuals at the early stage of their activities, documented their actions, and neutralized the enemy caches. The investigation continues with the involvement of the regional prosecutor’s office in Lviv region.
