The suspect faces up to 12 years in prison with confiscation of property, according to the press service of the Main Directorate of the Security Service in Kyiv and the region.
“The investigators of the Security Service have reported suspicion to a former player of the Ukraine national football team who is involved in financing the rf war against Ukraine. According to the case materials, after the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion, the ex-player actively supports the enemy and regularly finances certain units of the rashist troops,” the statement says.
The Security Service noted that in September 2024, the suspect participated in a propaganda football match. After the game, he auctioned a jersey with his autograph at a fan auction in Russia. This “lot” was bought for 700,000 rubles, and the received money was directed to finance the reconnaissance unit of the 106th Airborne Division of the rf, which is fighting against the Defense Forces of Ukraine.

Currently, SBU investigators have informed the suspect of suspicion of aiding the aggressor state. Since he is outside Ukraine, measures are being taken to bring him to criminal responsibility.
Additionally, the Security Service does not name the suspect, but from our own sources, it is known that this concerns Anatoliy Tymoshchuk. In January 2023, the National Security and Defense Council imposed personal sanctions against him. Moreover, he was stripped of all state awards.
