According to the investigation, she was recruited by the FSB after the occupation of Berdiansk, where she worked as a judge in a city-district court. After establishing contact with Russian intelligence, she agreed to cooperate with the occupiers.

The case materials state that in March 2022 she provided the Russian side with information about the movement of fighters from the “Azov” Special Operations Detachment from Mariupol toward Manhush.

In addition, she allegedly recommended candidates to the FSB for the positions of so-called “mayor” of Berdiansk and head of the occupied city hospital. She also, according to law enforcement, persuaded colleagues to cooperate with the occupation authorities.

In the summer of 2022, Bohomolova left the temporarily occupied territory and later became head of the Poltava District Court. In April 2023, she was detained by the Security Service of Ukraine directly in her office.

On April 27, 2023, she was notified of suspicion of high treason, and on May 5 of the same year, the High Council of Justice agreed to her arrest.

The court found her guilty under Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — high treason committed under martial law.
