Men over the age of 25 can continue to receive a deferment from mobilization while studying, if they follow the principle of sequential education. A draft law that provided for the possible cancellation of this norm has been withdrawn. This was reported by lawyers from the “Yurysty.UA” portal. According to them, there are currently no changes in legislation regarding student deferment.

Lawyers explained that men can enroll in a master’s program even after the age of 25 and still retain the right to deferment from mobilization. The main condition is not violating the principle of sequential education.
“The draft law No. 13634-1 has been withdrawn. If you enroll in a master’s program after the age of 25 and do not violate the sequence of education, you will be able to obtain a deferment,” said lawyer Vladyslav Derii.
The main document regulating mobilization and military service in Ukraine remains the Law of Ukraine “On Mobilization Preparation and Mobilization.”
A deferment from conscription during mobilization is granted to liable persons who have legal grounds and can confirm them. It can be issued online through the “Reserv+” application or by submitting documents to a CNAP (Administrative Service Center).
The right to deferment is granted to:
— reserved employees of state bodies, enterprises, and institutions;
— persons with disabilities;
— citizens recognized as temporarily unfit for service due to health conditions;
— parents who are raising a child alone;
— persons caring for a child with a disability or a seriously ill child;
— citizens who provide constant care for sick relatives;
— persons supporting three or more children under 18;
— full-time or dual-form students, postgraduate students, and doctoral candidates;
— scientific and academic staff;
— persons whose close relatives died or went missing during participation in ATO or combat operations.
