U.S. President Donald Trump reacted to actor George Clooney and his wife, human rights lawyer Amal Clooney, obtaining French citizenship. In his post on Truth Social, Trump called the couple “the worst political prognosticators of all time” and linked their approaches to migration policy with crime problems in France.

Trump also recalled that in 2024, Clooney urged Joe Biden to withdraw from the elections after unsuccessful debates. Clooney’s acting career was also criticized — Trump stated that he is not a “movie star,” but “just an ordinary guy who constantly complains about common sense in politics.”
George and Amal Clooney officially became French citizens at the end of December. The actor previously explained in an interview with Esquire that he purchased an estate in France in 2021 so their children could grow up away from the pressures of Hollywood and fame. He noted that France provides them with more privacy and freedom in raising their children.
