The Russian-Ukrainian war may last several more years and end with Russia’s exhaustion. This was stated by Poland’s Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski while commenting on the prospects of the conflict.

According to him, Ukraine is preparing for at least a three-year war, while colonial conflicts in modern history usually last around ten years. “I don’t think Putin can hold out for another three years,” Sikorski emphasized.
He reminded that Russia has been waging war against Ukraine for more than ten years — starting from its aggression in Donbas — yet has still failed to fully seize the region. Until 2022, Europe still believed in the myth of the “second army of the world,” and Putin thought that a full-scale operation would last three days. Reality turned out to be the opposite.
In the opinion of Poland’s foreign minister, Russia’s current results cannot be described as victorious: military losses are high, and strategic goals remain unachieved.
Sikorski expressed hope that the United States would continue providing Ukraine with intelligence support until the war ends. Poland, for its part, is ready to keep funding the operation of Starlink terminals and supplying ammunition for air defense and strike capabilities.
The minister also called on the European Union to be more actively involved in negotiations regarding future peace arrangements. Earlier, he had already proposed that Western countries consider intercepting Russian missiles and drones directly over Ukrainian territory.
