📅 The agreement was reached ahead of the first joint summit between the two sides in nearly a decade since Brexit. London and Brussels are actively undergoing a “reset” in their relations.
🌐 On Sunday, negotiators worked late into the evening to finalize the deal before the London summit.
⚡ In addition to defense, the sides agreed to strengthen cooperation in energy, agricultural imports, climate change, migration, law enforcement, and human mobility.
🛡️ The pact also includes coordination on hybrid warfare, cybersecurity, protection of critical infrastructure, and maritime security.
🎣 The parties also agreed to extend EU fishing rights until 2038 — a major concession by London.
💶 The deal gives the UK access to EU joint procurement programs. However, joining the large-scale €150 billion SAFE initiative will require further negotiations.
🔌 Leaders also outlined areas for further alignment — joining the EU’s single electricity market and improving conditions for business mobility.
