📦 Both sides expressed their intention to develop cooperation in trade, security, and the fight against terrorism and drug trafficking.
🗨️ Taliban Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi called moscow’s decision a “bold move” and “an example for other nations.”
⛽ russia has been gradually building ties with the Taliban: since 2022, Afghanistan has been importing gas, oil, and wheat from russia. In April 2025, moscow removed the Taliban from its list of terrorist organizations, a designation that had been in place since 2003.
🌍 No other country has officially recognized the Taliban government, although China, the UAE, Pakistan, and Uzbekistan already have ambassadors in Kabul. Western nations maintain that recognition is only possible if the Taliban changes its policies regarding women’s rights and restrictions on their movement and education.
