Russian forces have carried out three massive attacks on Ukraine’s gas infrastructure over the past week, targeting facilities of the Naftogaz Group in the Kharkiv, Sumy, and Chernihiv regions. The goal of these strikes is to deprive Ukrainians of gas and heat ahead of winter.

This was reported by Serhiy Koretskyi, Chairman of the Board of Naftogaz of Ukraine. According to him, the latest attack targeted a thermal power plant owned by the company. At the same time, the enemy struck gas production facilities in the Kharkiv region, where a significant part of the country’s gas output is concentrated.
This is already the third targeted attack on energy facilities in a week. Earlier strikes hit the Sumy and Chernihiv regions, where Russian forces attempted to damage main gas pipelines, compressor stations, and storage facilities.
Experts emphasize that these shellings have no military purpose and are acts of energy terrorism aimed at creating a humanitarian crisis and destabilizing the situation inside the country.
“Russian terrorists are once again trying to leave Ukraine without gas, heat, and light for the winter. But they don’t understand — they can neither break us nor scare us,” Koretskyi stressed.
He added that Naftogaz specialists are already working at the sites of the strikes, assessing damage, and starting repairs. Despite the attacks, no consumers have been left without gas, and the supply system remains stable.
Last winter, Ukraine also faced massive attacks on its energy system, but thanks to government coordination and the dedication of energy workers, a collapse was avoided.
“We will restore and rebuild everything. Let’s support and take care of one another,” Koretskyi concluded.
