During the meeting between US President Donald Trump and Russian dictator Vladimir Putin in Alaska, Russian representatives almost immediately made concessions. This was stated by US presidential special envoy Steve Witkoff in a comment to Fox News.

“Almost immediately at the first meeting in Alaska, the Russians made concessions. Part of obtaining these concessions was finding out whether they were willing to be more flexible,” Witkoff noted.
He added that during the meeting, “progress was effectively made regarding how we can reach a peace agreement.” According to him, a ceasefire agreement can be easily broken because it does not contain all the necessary components.
“A peace agreement is a completely different matter. It is stronger. The President felt at this meeting that we have many agreed prerequisites for a full-fledged peace agreement, so why not strive to conclude it?” Witkoff said, noting that Trump was criticized for this.
