Orbán noted that during his recent visit to Brussels, he personally witnessed that most European leaders “think only in military terms.” According to him, Europe is “exhausting its strength and money,” and the main question now facing the EU is who will finance Ukraine’s reconstruction after the war.
“Who has the money for this? Which country’s citizens are ready to send billions of euros to Ukraine, which is unable to sustain itself?” Orbán wrote, emphasizing that European societies are tired of the conflict.
The Hungarian prime minister called the idea of using Russia’s frozen currency reserves “Brussels’ new miracle weapon,” but warned that such a move could turn into a dangerous precedent.
“This is a Russian-European conflict that could become a harbinger of war. Only direct negotiations between Russia and Europe can prevent escalation,” Orbán said, stressing that Hungary will continue to advocate for a diplomatic solution to the situation.
