Orbán made this statement after the EU leaders’ summit in Brussels on March 19. According to him, amid the worsening global situation, the world may face an oil shortage, which requires new approaches.
“A global oil shortage is now knocking at the door. The behavior and strategy of Europeans on this issue are simply crazy. We definitely need Russian oil. Europe will not be able to survive without this resource,” the Hungarian prime minister said.
He also accused Brussels of trying to influence Hungary’s domestic politics ahead of the parliamentary elections on April 12.
According to Orbán, some European politicians, in particular representatives of the European People’s Party, allegedly expect a change of power in Hungary and the formation of a pro-Ukrainian government that will support Ukraine financially and militarily.
In addition, he claimed that European institutions allegedly support the Hungarian opposition to change the current government.
