Temporary head of the Munich Security Conference, Wolfgang Ischinger, stated that “cynical as it may sound, as long as Ukraine continues to fight bravely, the rest of Europe remains relatively safe.”

He noted that the Ukrainian army immobilizes Russian forces and inflicts weekly losses on them, limiting the Kremlin’s military capabilities on other fronts.
Ischinger emphasized that ending the war in Ukraine could lead to a sharp increase in the threat to the Baltic countries and Poland.
It is worth noting that Ischinger is temporarily leading the Munich Conference while the newly elected head, former NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, is serving as finance minister in Norway’s transitional government.
Meanwhile, Ukraine has not yet been admitted to NATO or the EU, partly due to not meeting certain standards, and anti-Ukrainian provocations periodically occur along the borders with Poland.
