According to Armed Forces General Staff spokesperson Dmytro Lykhovii, the combat operations involve special forces units, mechanized brigades, the Military Law Enforcement Service, and the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU).
As of October 14, Russian forces had about 80 servicemen in Kupiansk. Ukrainian forces are blocking enemy reinforcements and neutralizing groups attempting to advance deeper into the city.
During the day on October 15, Ukrainian troops eliminated three occupiers. The General Staff emphasized that the main goal of the operation is to prevent the concentration of Russian forces in the city and ensure the complete liberation of Kupiansk.
Taking part in the special operations are the 127th Separate Heavy Mechanized Brigade, the Special Operations Forces, the Military Law Enforcement Service, and the SBU. Drone operators continuously monitor enemy movements and adjust fire on Russian positions.
Earlier, Special Operations Forces carried out successful reconnaissance in the Northern-Slobozhansk direction — Ukrainian fighters entered and completely cleared enemy positions. Border guards from the “Forpost” brigade also destroyed several groups of Russian troops attempting to advance through forest lines along the front.
