The People’s Republic of China has stated that it continues to support a ceasefire and peace talks between Russia and Ukraine, and that this position will not change. The statement was made by Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun during a briefing.

He emphasized that on the issue of the so-called “Ukrainian crisis,” China has always maintained a clear and consistent position, which, according to the Beijing representative, “corresponds to the essence of the matter.” Guo made this comment in response to President Volodymyr Zelensky’s statement about the lack of ongoing dialogue between Kyiv and Beijing and China’s alleged assistance to Russia, which allows it to continue the war.
According to Guo Jiakun, China has always advocated for the cessation of hostilities and a peaceful resolution of the conflict, and its efforts in this direction have received “broad international recognition.”
The Foreign Ministry representative stressed that Beijing will continue to insist on diplomatic initiatives and calls for dialogue between the parties. “We will continue to stand on the right side of peace and dialogue, advocate de-escalation, and play a constructive role in promoting a political settlement of the crisis,” he stated.
