Spain will provide Ukraine with additional missiles for the Patriot air defense systems. This concerns five PAC-2 interceptors with a total value of about 15 million euros.

This was reported by El Pais. The decision was agreed upon after a meeting between Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Madrid.
According to the publication, the PAC-2 missiles are not the newest modification. Spain is gradually upgrading its systems to the PAC-3 level. At the same time, these interceptors remain important for Ukraine’s air defense system. The cost of one missile is estimated at 3–4 million dollars.
Spain had already delivered Patriot missiles to Ukraine in 2024. At that time, Madrid provided assistance twice, though the exact number of munitions was not disclosed.
Pedro Sánchez also confirmed that in 2026, Spain will allocate 1 billion euros in military aid to Ukraine under a bilateral agreement. The total support since the start of the full-scale war will reach about 4 billion euros.
The delivery of even a limited number of missiles comes amid a shortage of Patriot system munitions. According to European officials, during Russia’s massive winter attacks, Ukraine used about 700 interceptor missiles — roughly the annual production volume in the U.S.
The situation is further complicated by the growing global demand for air defense systems. Tensions in the Middle East increase competition for resources, making even small deliveries critical for strengthening Ukraine’s defense.
