The briefings at the Pentagon lasted over an hour and a half. According to a White House spokesperson, staff from both parties in the Senate and House of Representatives were informed about the situation in the Middle East.

During meetings with lawmakers, Trump’s representatives emphasized the threat of Iranian ballistic missiles and Tehran’s allies but noted that intelligence could not find any evidence of Iran planning to attack American forces first.

These statements came after the U.S., together with Israel, carried out a large-scale air operation against Iran. Previously, the administration justified the strikes by the possibility of a preemptive attack by Tehran on American units, and one official stressed that the president did not intend to “sit idly by and allow American forces to be attacked.”
