U.S. President Donald Trump said that the Republican Party has a strong team of potential leaders who could run in the 2028 elections. He made the remarks in an interview with CBS News when asked about the possibility of his own candidacy.

“Many people want me to run again. But the difference between us and the Democrats is that we really have a strong bench. I don’t want to name names because that would be inappropriate. But it’s still too early — three years and three months,” Trump said.
Commenting on possible successors, the President emphasized that the Republican Party has many capable politicians who share his vision for America. “I like so many people. We have an incredible lineup,” Trump noted, mentioning among others Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Vice President J.D. Vance.
The President also stressed that the administration’s current focus is on economic growth, national security, and strengthening the United States’ global influence, while the issue of the 2028 elections is still “too premature to discuss.”
