📱 Bessent wrote about this on the social media platform X, commenting on a Reuters report about changes in Russian tanker routes following the latest U.S. sanctions package.
🚢 According to the agency, at least two vessels transporting Russian oil to India have changed course after the new restrictions. Specifically, the tanker Tagor is now heading to China instead of the port of Chennai, and the vessel Tassos altered its route to Egypt’s Port Said.
🧾 The new U.S. sanctions package covers more than 115 individuals, companies, and vessels linked to Iran and russia. Among them are participants in logistical schemes for supplying Russian oil.
📉 According to trade sources, the sanctions are already significantly affecting russia’s exports. This impact is most noticeable in shipments to India — one of the key buyers of Russian oil, which supplies over a third of its imports from russia.
