The US Department of Justice stated that a handwritten letter, allegedly signed by Jeffrey Epstein and addressed to convicted sex offender Larry Nassar, is a forgery. The agency noted that the handwriting in the document does not match Epstein’s handwriting.

Earlier, the department reported that it was verifying the authenticity of a letter that supposedly contained crude hints about US President Donald Trump. Additional details immediately raised doubts about whether the document was genuinely written and sent by Epstein.
“This forged letter serves as a reminder that just because a document is published by the Department of Justice does not mean that the claims or statements contained in it are factual,” the DOJ said after the letter was released among other materials related to the Epstein case.
The text does not mention Donald Trump by name, but uses the phrase “our president.” According to the agency, the letter could have been dated August 2019 — the month of Epstein’s death. At that time, Trump was already serving as the US president.
At the same time, the DOJ noted that the envelope was not sent from New York, where Epstein was located, and contained a different return address, which also supports the forgery theory.
The department separately emphasized that some of the released documents contain false and sensational claims about President Donald Trump.
