Washington has approved the potential supply of high-tech Extended Range Attack Munition (ERAM) missiles to Ukraine, capable of striking targets at distances of up to 450 km. According to CNN, citing sources, deliveries could begin as early as the end of this year.

The $825 million arms sale was announced on August 28, amid new Russian attacks on Kyiv that once again claimed civilian lives.
Reports indicate that Ukraine could receive up to 3,350 ERAM missiles along with the same number of GPS/INS systems for precision navigation. Financing for the purchase will be partially covered by Denmark, the Netherlands, Norway, and the U.S. through the Foreign Military Financing (FMF) program.
Washington emphasized that the sale aligns with U.S. national and foreign policy interests and strengthens Ukraine’s security as a key factor of stability in Europe.
It is not yet clear whether restrictions will be imposed on the use of these missiles, particularly regarding strikes on Russian territory. However, even the very fact of such a sale could significantly shift the strategic situation on the battlefield.
What is known about ERAM:
- RAACM (CoAspire): range up to 400 km, speed 0.6 Mach, advanced guidance system, produced using 3D printing.
- Rusty Dagger (Zone 5 Technologies): theoretical range up to 900 km without a warhead, part of the U.S. Air Force Enterprise Test Vehicle program.
The missiles weigh about 227 kg, have a relatively small warhead, and cost around $246,000 each on average — making them cheaper to produce compared to other long-range systems.
