Western countries have chosen an alternative strategy to support Ukraine by investing billions of dollars in the development of the defense industry, given the low likelihood of the country joining NATO. The goal is to equip the Ukrainian army with modern weapons and technologies for effectively repelling Russian aggression.

According to U.S. Special Envoy for Ukraine Keith Kellogg, Ukraine is a world leader in drone technology. The exchange of experience between Ukrainian and Western specialists allows new developments to be rapidly implemented on the front lines.
Small FPV drones account for about 70% of Russian losses within a 15 km zone from the front.
Long-range strike drones are capable of hitting targets over 1,000 km away.
In addition to drones, Ukrainian manufacturers are modernizing armored vehicles:
- The “Gyurza-1” armored personnel carrier is protected against drone strikes.
- The more maneuverable “Gyurza-2” will soon enter serial production.
Plans are in place to produce at least $30 billion worth of weapons per year, three times the current output.
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen noted that with Europe’s financial support, Ukraine could become a “steel porcupine” — a country with a high level of defense capability and reduced vulnerability. Western investments include licensing and joint production, integrating Ukrainian technologies into the supply chains of allied armies.
