In the United States, a new portion of FBI archives related to UFOs and unidentified anomalous phenomena (UAP) has been released. Among the materials are documents containing testimonies about mysterious objects, possible debris of unknown origin, and beings allegedly seen by eyewitnesses in the 1960s.

The publication of the archives took place as part of the initiative of the administration of U.S. President Donald Trump to declassify information about UFOs. Hundreds of documents, photographs, and videos were made publicly available, including NASA mission transcripts, military reports, and infrared images of aerial incidents.

One of the most discussed documents was an internal FBI memo dated October 19, 1966, prepared by the bureau’s San Francisco office for then-FBI Director John Edgar Hoover under the title “Unidentified Flying Objects.”

The document states that 1965 was considered the period with the highest number of UFO sightings. The memo mentions metallic objects capable of silently hovering in the air, reaching “fantastic speeds,” and affecting electromagnetic devices.

The materials also describe cases where debris of unknown origin was allegedly found after UFO appearances. One sample was described as a magnesium alloy, another as pure magnesium, and another as an “extremely hard unknown metal.”

The documents claim that some of these materials contained “thousands of metallic spheres 15 microns in diameter” and showed traces of micrometeorite impacts.

Particular attention was drawn to testimonies regarding possible UFO “crew members.”

“Several witnesses reported seeing crew members who disembarked from the objects,” the FBI memo states.

The beings were described as short humanoids approximately 105 to 120 centimeters tall, dressed in something resembling space suits and helmets.

The materials also mention the book Flying Saucers – Serious Business by American author Frank Edwards, which the FBI believed may have contributed to increased public interest in the UFO topic.

According to the bureau, Edwards claimed that UFOs were spacecraft sent to observe Earth, while the U.S. Air Force allegedly concealed information out of fear of mass panic.

The memo describes three main shapes of the objects: airship-like craft up to 91 meters long, disc-shaped vehicles up to 30 meters in diameter, and egg-shaped objects, which, according to the author, were observed most frequently.

The documents also state that UFOs could move silently at high speed, hover in the air, and then suddenly accelerate with flashes of light. In some cases, scorched areas allegedly remained on the ground after the objects took off.

The FBI emphasized that eyewitnesses included law enforcement officers, military personnel, civil aviation pilots, and representatives of civil defense services.

In addition, the materials mention that the U.S. Air Force tasked University of Colorado physicist Edward Condon with conducting a large-scale study of “flying saucers.” About $300,000 was planned to be spent on the project over 18 months.

At the end of the memo, it is stated that Frank Edwards predicted a possible “open landing” of UFOs or direct contact with humanity in the future.

At the same time, researchers and skeptics emphasize that the released materials mainly contain eyewitness testimonies and retellings rather than independently verified evidence of extraterrestrial life or unknown technologies.
