The European Union has begun limiting Hungary’s participation in discussions on sensitive issues and is moving toward meetings in smaller formats. This decision is linked to concerns about the potential leakage of confidential information to Russia, reports Politico.

According to sources, the EU increasingly organizes meetings in restricted formats instead of full sessions with all member states to avoid disclosing details. Such formats include E3, E4, E7, E8, Weimar, NB8, and JEF. For example, NB8 unites eight countries from Northern Europe and the Baltics.

Diplomats note that amid accusations of Hungary possibly leaking information to Russia, the EU may further classify some documents and data.
