NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte stated that claims about insufficient U.S. pressure on Russia are unfair. According to him, Washington continues both sanctions pressure and the supply of weapons to Ukraine.

Rutte told journalists about this ahead of the NATO defense ministers’ meeting in Brussels. He emphasized that the United States, like its European allies, is using various instruments of influence on Russia, including through sanctions packages.
The Secretary General urged attention to the situation surrounding Russian energy companies such as Lukoil and Rosneft, stressing the effectiveness of restrictive measures. He also noted that the United States continues to provide Ukraine with critically important weapons under the PURL initiative.
Separately, Rutte emphasized that the U.S. Deputy Secretary of Defense Elbridge Colby, who was present at the meeting, consistently advocates strengthening the defense capabilities of NATO’s European allies.
