Russia has involved occupied Crimea in the production of aviation components for its civilian aircraft. In particular, the Simferopol-based plant Fiolent manufactures key parts for the Sukhoi Superjet New (SJ-100), Tu-214, and MS-21 models. This was reported by the Representation of the President of Ukraine in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea.

The office noted that enterprises in the temporarily occupied territory are actively participating in Russia’s so-called “import substitution” program, which aims to replace foreign components in the country’s industries.
According to Ukrainian officials, the Fiolent plant supplies transformers for onboard equipment, generators, engines, and precision electric machines that are critically important for Russian aircraft manufacturing. These components are being used in place of parts from the Japanese company Tamagawa, which were previously installed in control and power systems of Russian aircraft. In this way, Moscow is attempting to compensate for the effects of international sanctions that have restricted access to high-tech Western components.
The Presidential Representation reported that Fiolent is included in the list of enterprises cooperating with the Russian defense-industrial complex, and its products are used not only in aviation but also in naval and industrial systems.
Ukrainian authorities emphasize that the use of occupied facilities for military-industrial purposes violates international law and demonstrates Russia’s economic exploitation of Crimea.
