Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna said that Russian President Vladimir Putin fears possible Ukrainian drone strikes during the May 9 parade, which in his view indicates the weakness of the Russian leader.

According to Tsahkna, Putin is, for the first time in many years, genuinely concerned about potential Ukrainian drone attacks. He links this to initiatives such as ceasefire proposals or similar statements.
“I think for the first time in 20 years he fears Ukrainian drone attacks. And that is why he is proposing this ceasefire. Maybe they will be able to comply with it, but there is no strategic sense in it. It seems he is afraid of Ukraine, and this is a signal that he is weaker than most of the world believes,” the minister said.
He was also asked about intelligence data from a European country suggesting that Putin is concerned about a possible assassination attempt or coup. Tsahkna replied that this is typical for authoritarian regimes.
He also noted that Russian oligarchs are suffering due to sanctions and the war, and that internet disruptions are being recorded in Moscow and St. Petersburg.
“Ordinary Russians are living under conditions of terror, and now they are also losing the ability to freely use the internet and communicate. Therefore, this intelligence information seems quite reliable, and Putin is indeed afraid for his life,” the Estonian Foreign Minister added.
