U.S. President Donald Trump has partially supported this strategy, already imposing secondary sanctions on India for purchasing Russian oil and threatening to extend them to China, Turkey, the UAE, and other countries.
According to the results, sanctions against Moscow’s partners are supported by 76% of Republicans and 58% of Democrats.
Trump emphasized that within two weeks he will determine his final position regarding possible new restrictions against Russia: “Either massive sanctions, or massive tariffs, or maybe I won’t do anything.”
Meanwhile, the EU is considering for the first time applying the mechanism of secondary sanctions against states that help Russia circumvent restrictions. Foreign ministers are expected to discuss this issue in Copenhagen at the end of the week.
The poll surveyed 1,022 Americans, with a margin of error of ±3%.
