According to Merz, “the most intense Russian attacks on Ukraine in recent times show that Moscow is betting on escalation rather than negotiations.”
At the same time, the Chancellor emphasized that Germany will continue to support Ukraine.
“We continue to stand with Ukraine. Kyiv and its partners are ready for negotiations on a just peace. But Russia continues to wage war,” he said.
Merz also stressed that the actions of the Kremlin remain the main obstacle to achieving peace and ending hostilities.
