Former Lithuanian Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis believes that Russia’s drone attack on Poland on September 10 may have been an attempt to push Warsaw to reduce its support for Kyiv. He said this in a comment to Suspilne.

“We are approaching a situation where we must honestly admit: our house is on fire. This is an obvious escalation, an act of aggression against a NATO country. Putin, as always, is testing the limits of the West, checking the reaction, and trying to create a new reality,” Landsbergis emphasized.
He noted that one of the reasons for the strike could be the Kremlin leader’s desire to pressure Warsaw, especially considering the current differences between the government and the president.
“Poland is a critically important transit route for supplying equipment to Ukraine. Imagine if a debate starts in Poland: ‘We are under drone attacks, maybe we should help Ukraine less?’ This would be extremely harmful and would be a big victory for Putin,” the former minister explained.
According to him, Polish airspace was deliberately violated, and this is a signal. “Poland is now in a difficult political situation: the coalition is under pressure. If we add drone attacks to this, it could throw fuel on the fire and play into Putin’s hands,” Landsbergis concluded.
