According to the publication, acting financial controller Jules Hurst informed lawmakers of the House Armed Services Committee that a significant portion of these funds was spent on ammunition. However, he did not specify which expenses are included in the total amount or whether potential costs for rebuilding damaged infrastructure in the Middle East are included.
It is noted that there is currently no full clarity regarding the methodology used to calculate this figure.
Earlier, Reuters and Associated Press, citing sources, reported that only the first six days of the conflict could have cost the United States at least $11.3 billion. At that time, these were preliminary estimates from the administration of Donald Trump.
The final structure of the expenses remains unclear, including whether costs for repairing bases and infrastructure damaged during hostilities are included.
