🚩 In Greenland’s capital, Nuuk, protesters unfolded national flags and banners reading “Respect Greenland’s sovereignty,” “We are not for sale,” and “We will make America go away.”

👥 Political leaders of the country joined the demonstration. Jens-Frederik Nielsen, the likely future prime minister and leader of the right-wing party Demokraatit, which won the elections, joined the current head of government, Mute Egede. Together, they participated in a protest march to the U.S. consulate on the outskirts of Nuuk.

🗣️ Nielsen emphasized that Greenland has no intention of discussing the possibility of joining the United States with Washington: “We want to remain independent, our autonomy and freedom are non-negotiable. Greenland will be Greenland.”

❌ Egede also sharply criticized Trump’s stance, calling it “absolutely unacceptable.”

🌍 The protests spread beyond the capital – similar demonstrations took place in other towns across the island.

📜 On Friday, leaders of five parties in the Greenlandic parliament made a joint statement categorically condemning the White House’s plans. The document highlights that the idea of annexation contradicts the principles of friendship and partnership between NATO allies.
