According to Graham, the sanctions package will no longer “sit on the shelf” because Donald Trump considers it necessary. “I think he needs it,” the senator noted, commenting on the U.S. president’s position.
Although the bill has not yet been submitted for Senate consideration, a White House official confirmed to Fox News that Donald Trump supports this legislation.
At the same time, the progress of the document is being slowed by a procedural dispute in Congress. Senate Majority Leader John Thune insists that the initiative should first pass the House of Representatives, while Lindsey Graham demands that consideration begin in the upper chamber.
As the publication notes, passing the bill through the House of Representatives could take significantly more time than the senators are willing to wait.
