In Germany, it was stated that they expect changes to Ukrainian legislation aimed at restricting the departure of young men abroad. This was reported by German Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt, emphasizing that Berlin seeks to reduce the number of young Ukrainians arriving in the country.

According to him, Germany has already taken its own steps in this direction by reducing its attractiveness for migrants. In particular, the “Bürgergeld” social benefit for Ukrainian refugees was canceled and replaced with standard assistance for asylum seekers.

At the same time, Dobrindt stressed that he now expects action from Kyiv as well. According to him, the Ukrainian side takes this demand seriously, the issue is being discussed, but there are no concrete results yet.

The minister emphasized that prospects remain in Germany for Ukrainians who seek to integrate, work, and support themselves independently. Instead, those who do not integrate should understand that their future is in their own country.

The head of the German Interior Ministry also reported that Germany plans to maintain a strict migration policy in 2026 as well. According to him, in 2025 the number of new asylum seekers decreased by more than half — to about 113,000 people, and the government expects a further reduction in migration flows.

In addition, Dobrindt spoke about joint work with a group of European countries on creating deportation centers in third countries outside the EU. It is expected that in the coming weeks a country will be identified with which relevant negotiations will begin, although the overall international situation may again affect an increase in migration.
