Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna stated that if Russian military personnel without identification insignia cross Estonia’s border, the country’s security forces will open fire.

Tsahkna recalled an incident in October when so-called “little green men” — Russian servicemen without official insignia — were spotted near the border on the Russian side. According to him, similar cases had occurred before, although they did not escalate into a serious conflict. At the same time, for security reasons, Estonia temporarily closed the border crossing point.
The foreign minister emphasized that Estonian services are constantly monitoring the situation, in particular receiving numerous reports from the border city of Narva.
“If ‘little green men’ ever cross our border, we will shoot them. There will be no discussions about this. If Russia doubts whether we would really react this way, it can try,” Tsahkna stated bluntly.
